Moscow, Russian Federation, March 30, 2010 - Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS – NYSE: MBT), the largest mobile operator of Russian and CIS, and Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), the international wholesale arm of Deutsche Telekom Group, one of the world’s leading telecommunications companies, announce today that they have connected their networks for direct group-to-group traffic exchange.
Direct interconnect between MTS and Deutsche Telekom is realized in Ancotel Telehouse (Frankfurt, Germany) and allows both operators to start a bilateral net-to-net traffic exchange. As it was agreed between the parties, Deutsche Telekom will terminate its traffic to MTS's networks in every country of presence (Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), while MTS will in turn send all its traffic to Deutsche Telekom fixed and mobile subsidiaries (including the T-Mobile group) in Europe, Asia and America.

MTS received a telecommunications services license in 2006. In November 2008, the company started a telecommunication network and obtained a permit from the Ministry of Telecommunications and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation for providing international and long-distance traffic transmission services through its own network. As a result, the company was able to establish direct connections with worldwide operators, such as TeliaSonera International Carriers, Telecom Italia Sparkle,TATA Communications, and KPN - iBASIS. Earlier, in compliance with regulatory requirements, MTS transmitted international traffic through national telecommunications operators, which in turn connected with worldwide operators.

Прямое присоединение между МТС и Deutsche Telekom осуществлено в международном центре межсетевого взаимодействия Ancotel в немецком Франкфурте. Теперь компании смогут осуществлять взаимный прямой обмен трафиком. В рамках подписанного соглашения МТС сможет осуществлять «приземление» своего трафика во всех мобильных и фиксированных сетях Deutsche Telekom, включая сети T-Mobile, в странах Европы Азии и Америки. Deutsche Telekom сможет терминировать свой трафик в странах присутствия МТС: России. Армении, Беларуси, Туркменистане и Узбекистане .

МТС получила лицензию на оказание услуг дальней связи в 2006 году. В ноябре 2008 года компания ввела в эксплуатацию собственную сеть дальней связи, а также получила разрешение Министерства связи и массовых коммуникаций РФ на предоставление услуг по пропуску международного и междугородного трафика с использованием собственной сети. В результате компания получила возможность устанавливать прямые соединения с международными операторами и на сегодняшний день уже организовала прямые присоединения с такими крупнейшими международными игроками телекоммуникационного рынка как TeliaSonera, Telecom Italia Sparkle, TATA Communications, Telefónica, KPN (iBasis), Orange. Ранее, согласно действовавшим регуляторным требованиям, МТС могла осуществлять передачу международного трафик только через национальных операторов дальней связи, которые устанавливали соединения с международными операторами через свои сети.
