PTC'10 is focusing on emerging cloud-based services and applications that will drive far-reaching changes in the telecommunications industry. Applications and services that were once delivered over dedicated networks and end-user devices are moving to servers on the Internet. This shift will challenge existing business models and bring once-distinct industries into competetion with one another. However, cloud-based services also highlight the importance of telecom providers' core service: connectivity. After all, server-based applications can be no more reliable than the networks over which they are delivered.
