Deutsche Telekom ICSS enables seamless interworking with all provider networks via the new IPX platform

Jul 31, 2009

Bonn, July 31, 2009 – Today, Deutsche Telekom ICSS, the international wholesale division of Deutsche Telekom, announced the launch of a new IPX (IP eXchange) platform that enables seamless convergence between different provider networks and thus interoperability between mobile network operators, (MNOs), fixed network operators (FNOs), ISPs, and content and application providers.

Based on international standards and GSMA specifications, the IPX platform offers a global, trusted, and controlled IP backbone and represents an international QoS – enabled IP network architecture.

With the new IP eXchange service, ICSS offers a premium-quality solution that promises reliable delivery of traffic while offering the flexibility to apply an appropriate level of quality. The solution includes a completely managed connection with high flexibility and scalability, including CPE (customer premise equipment) for fixed network access up to 2.5 Gbps or IPsec access up to 30 Mbps. GRX traffic is supported on our IPX platform and GRX customers can be seamlessly migrated to IPX. An MMX service is also available.

ICSS’s IP eXchange provides easy-to-deliver services with high security, agreed levels of quality with classes of service supported for a set of defined applications. Providers using the new IPeXchange solution will also profit from ICSS's existing, large customer base.

Using the IPX solution providers can internetwork with each other with one technical interconnection, one contract, and one partner, ICSS.

“ICSS's efforts are focused on supporting its customers with the development of new services and solutions so that they can develop new, more lucrative business models on the basis of its offerings. IPeXchange is an important new service that makes this possible”, Helmut Angst, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Telekom ICSS, says. “We are pleased that we can offer the flexibility, reach, and efficiency of the public internet, combined with the quality, transparency, and security of a dedicated interconnection that is compatible with the existing GRX world."
